preserving PM color/tags in iView - workaround?
« on: May 23, 2006, 06:33:18 PM »
I know that the colors and tags from PM don't automatically mesh with color tags in iView. Has anyone figured out a workaround? PM is so much faster at previewing and makings selects, I would love to be able to do my selcets in PM, adding color (and star ratings, ideally) tags and then see them in iView.

I have thought of one method, but it is cumbersome, silly even. I can use a not oft-used iptc field, then add, say, the word 'yellow' to it, then in iView search for 'yellow' and then tag files accordingly. For obvious reasons, this hasn't yet become a part of my general workflow.

Any other ideas?

I have found a workaround that makes it possible to export the colors from PM to iView.
iView uses the urgency fied in the IPTC to label the files.
Setting the urgency to "Low" attaches a Cyan label in iView.
Setting it to 7 = Yellow
Setting it to 6 = Orange
Setting it to "Normal = Magenta
Setting it to 4 = Brown
Setting it to 3 = Blue
Setting it to 2= Green
Setting it to "High" = Red

I know I'm posting this months later, but thanks SO much for that information. I have used it frequently.
