I, too, am keen for your DAM product to appear. I have IDimager but find it too demanding of my time and brain cells to keep the catalogue up to date. Something simple and robust, please.  8=)

Meanwhile, I use CDWinder to index my pictures (70K+). It's free, from here -- http://www.cdwinder.de/, so long as you limit yourself to 25 catalogues. I use two.

Roger

Actually CDwinder is a Windows only program but it has the CDfinder as a Mac counterpart from the same developers. Also they use the same catalogues so it is Win/Mac multi platform too - which was a serious issue for me with PM and other software.

Even if you are using more than 25 catalogues (each disk, CD or DVD is considered one) CDfinder/CDwinder is quite reasonably priced and I find it a good solution to use until the guys at CameraBits decide to show us their method.
My personal CDwinder catalog system is not yet buit up entirely but I wait with that until the new catalog comes out...
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

But I do ask:

What is the status and is there now an expected release date for the cataloging application?

Regards,
Juerg

Status: We're working on it as hard we can.
Release date: unknown.

We're not going to project a release date and then fail to meet it.  You'll definitely know when it's coming when you start hearing about it in the Announcements section of the forums.

Gzeee, Kirk, you would have a great career in politics  ;D

PS: But NO, don't even think about it ... we need you here. We would be lost without you.

After this many years in development though, it seems more like vaporware than something real.  Love Photo Mechanic and recognize that if I don't want to wait for a DAM solution from PM I can go elsewhere, but for those of us who think PM does a pretty good job, we'd like to have a sense if this is something anticipated in the next, say, six months, or there is no realistic expectation that it will happen even within that amount of time.

Look for more information next month at PhotoPlus Expo in New York.
