DATE NOT UPDATED ON CAPTION
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:37:12 AM »
Hi,
Using Mac OS X version 10.6.5
Photo Mechanic 4.6.6

The date on the caption is not updating ie I select a group of pictures,go to IPTC stationary pad fill in the details,put todays date,box ticked,apply stationary pad.When I check on each single picture by pressing i button the caption is all correct but the original date the picture was taken is still on there.

Also is there any way of not having the time on the caption,the date is all I need for the majority of pictures.

Thanks
Geoff

Try putting this code into the caption where the date should appear.

Code: [Select]
{iptcday0}.{iptcmonth0}.{iptcyear4}
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Hi,

Just tried that and that just copies the date in the date and time box which is the date that the picture was taken and not todays date.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks
Geoff

In this case you will need: {todayday0}.{todaymonth0}.{todayyear4}

That puts in the correct date in the caption box but the original date the picture was taken remains in the time/date box.

Can you post a JPEG screenshot of your IPTC Stationery Pad dialog just before you apply it to your photos?  Use the 'Additional Options...' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

As I can see from the 1st Screenshot, you have opened up the Stationary Pad. What didi you click after adjusting the date?
Close or "Apply Stationery Pad to selected"?

Close will only save the stationary pad for future use.
Apply to select will update the data on the selected images.

EDIT: And btw... Your Stationary Pad and IPTC-Details look different than mine.
I am also using PM 4.6.6 on Mac OS X 10.6.5

Hi Geoff,

I'm unable to recreate your situation.

Could you post a screenshot of your IPTC/XMP settings in PM?

Thanks,

-Jerry
