Unintended photo delete
« on: July 14, 2011, 04:47:14 PM »
I accidentally deleted photos with the erase card after ingest option. I know it is mostly my mistake but it will result some feature requests soon.

But first of all my most important question is what could be the most efficient way - or rather application - to recover NEF files erased by PM on a Mac. I have the card and no write has been made since the erase. I intend to try some recovery apps to get my photos back. But knowing the actual delete methods used maybe you could advice some efficient solution.
Working on Mac, OSX, iOS and with some Canons.
Allways shooting RAW.

PM simply deletes the files.  There is nothing special about it.  PM does not format the card.  The photos should all still be there, they've just been lost from the directory information on the card.

RescuePro comes free with SanDisc Cards. Lexar has a utility called Image Rescue that also works...You can buy PhotoRescue. Be aware, you will lose your file names.

I tried the "free" RescuePro provided with the SanDisk cards but it seems their serial numbers don't work. I only use SanDisk cards but this promotional software bundle disappointed me since I simply could not make it work.

In the end I downloaded the free to use Test Disk program that worked just fine and recovered all photos in less time than what I spent trying to get the free RescuePro serial to work - that did not.

Hi Steve!

Tried to run this Software on MAC OS Lion...
NO way to start it up as PhotoRescue is a PPC coded App. PPC-Code is removed from Lion.

Sven
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

Well on my Mac it is listed as a 'Universal' App in the System Profile  (see screenshot) so it should work just fine.

They have different versions

I think this is the one you want:
