Unable to install

I just downloaded the trial version and also received my trial code but when I run the install application I get an error saying that it is already running and instructing me to quit Photo Mechanic before installing a new version. It is not running because it isn't installed yet.
How is it possible that it thinks it is already running when it is not installed yet?
Anyone have any ideas on how I can install this?

I installed it to my laptop without problem but would prefer it on my desktop.

Any help would be appreciated.

You probably have a Windows Explorer open and it has the title "Photo Mechanic".  Just start the installer, and then close any windows you see with the title "Photo Mechanic".

It should then install just fine.
