When I go to make a slide show in PM it goes back and then quits.
Any thoughts?

What OS are you running?  If it is anything above 10.5.x then you'll need to upgrade.  PM 4.5.4 is not compatible with 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) or 10.7.x (Lion).
