Hi I recently updated to Lion. In my caption if I put (R), to identify a person on the right my computer automatically changes it to ®.

Do you know how to stop that.

Open system preferences, "Language & Text" and then deselect the text substitution for "(r)".

It is interesting to see though that PM indeed also replaces the upper case variant while e.g., textedit and other tools only convert the specified (i.e. lower case) variant…
