invalid color format

I am using PM 4.6.8 on Intel Mac with OS 10.7.4 and editing with Nikon Capture NX2 (2.3.1).

When I try to external edit from the PM contact sheet it works fine with NEF files (what I usually use).  When I try to do the same thing with jpeg files I get an error code that looks like this. 

I can edit the same jpeg files directly from the file without going through PM.  However, this changes my workflow from the norm and slows me down.  Any suggestions?

I figured it out.  Did not have Embed ICC profile during ingest selected in my preferences.  Sorry to trouble you all.

Not so fast.  It turns out this did not work. If the image has a color class ranking applied to it, then it can not be edited with Capture NX2.  Even if the color ranking is subsequently removed, the image can't be opened and edited with CNX2.  This does not apply to the NEF files. 
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
