FTP not working
« on: May 17, 2012, 06:55:44 AM »
Kirk,

Can you give me some advice as to why I can't ftp images from my desktop but can from my laptop using PM in both cases?

In each case the settings are identical but from the desktop I receive the attached message. To get round it I use Filezilla which works perfectly with the same settings but would like to use PM on some occasions.

Obviously I am doing something wrong. Could you advise me what that might be?

Both the PC and laptop are using Win7 64bit and PM 4.6.8.

David

David,

From the engineer who wrote the FTP uploader:

my suggestion would be that he make sure PM isn't being locally blocked by something like the windows firewall
and he could try using the raw IP for the server instead of a hostname

So please check your firewall settings and try using the IP address of your server instead of the textual hostname.

How simple.  I turned the firewall off and immediately uploaded an image!

Now I need to setup a rule to allow PM to ftp without turning the firewall off.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Kirk;

SORTED

Windows 7
PM 4.6.7

I am having an issue with FTP also, I gave permission on my firewall to allow PM outgoing.

When I try to FTP my photos a window opens very briefly and then closes, no log file, no colored coded photo to indicate transfer.

I used both the name of the ftp server and the actual ip address.

I can connect to the ftp server via a dos prompt

Any suggestion would be very helpful.
