Hi

I would like user-defined shades of grey/colours for both background and text

Can't be that difficult to set up

I am really not a fan of the dark look.  Maybe I'll get used to it, but I would much prefer to not have to.

I voted for the first one (white text) because I like it as it is in Beta 2.
After 5 years of absence I restarted the photography.

I was really dismayed to see that Camerabits had fallen for the "New Look" white on black fashion trend. When you are working on a laptop in iffy lighting it is much harder to read negative text and it puts more strain on the eyes.
I really hope Camerabits will go the way of PS6 and make the user interface an option in the preferences.
For now, the funerary look has put me off trying out the other goodies in PM5. I'll just stick to version 4.6 for the time being.

I like the light (not white) text of LR4 on the medium grey.  But the  PM5 beta comes across as somewhat harsh.  Also, the LR4 popup boxes all have dark text on light background, unlike PM5.  I have reset the my PM5 contact sheet to the same as PM4.  Took me a little while to figure out to see the grey values behind each of the options in PM 4 and replicate those in the PM5 preferences.  Still leaves the popup boxes with white text on black.

I like the design approach of LR and NX2, both of which now use light on medium grey. But the designers at Momenta Creative missed the mark on implementation in PM5. I don't think it is as simple as white on black or black on white.  It could have worked, but didn't for me.

White text on black? Oh please. How 1990's can you get? It's amateurish. It's low-end. It's psychologically taxing in subtle ways. It's tiring to read. It's dated. It's heavy. It's definitely not cool.
Check with a designer skilled in the finer points of typography usability and psychology. White/light text on black is generally regarded as a big no-no.

PM is famed for it's usability and light speedy performance. Use a skin to match those brilliant qualities. Please.....

But otherwise PM5 should be a functional winner.

Hi,
As I have already said in a previous post, I prefer the old look.
The black background is much more difficult to read.
So, as far as PM5 goes, I like it a lot, in spite of the change in the user interface color.
Maybe I will get used to it in the long run...
Regards,

I agree with Perg who says :

Thanks Perg, I am unable to write a good english language !

While it isn't any kind of big deal on the one hand, I too am not a fan of the new look.  The program does seem to be a bit faster on my aging machine though ... so I will likely upgrade and hope that when more important issues leave time for the more trivial aspects like this new look - perhaps later we will get the option to change the look back?

I like the new look with white text on a dark background - I found it disconcerting for a day or two but then began to prefer it and now strongly do - the solution of offering a choice in preferences is probably the best way forward and I'd vote for dark backgrounds and white text as the default.

Waiting anxiously for an update to V5 which has an option to go back to black text on white background. Before I go blind please.
