Photo Mechanic: Version 5 (Beta 4) Posted

Hello Everyone,

We have a new beta for you all to work with.  It has the following improvements:

Added new floating Variables palette window to the Mac version in place of the slide-out drawers that didn't work well for dialogs that were short in height.  The Variables palette can be resized to be much taller than the dialog that opened it up. (Mac)

Fixed issue when applying a Date in Ingest and simultaneously using variables like {iptcday}, {iptcmonth}, {iptcyear4}, etc. which would cause these (and related) variables to evaluate to nothing.

Local IPTC Stationery Pad now saves/restores the Date popup selection properly.

Fixed issue of certain contextual menu items being disabled in the Preview window. (Mac)

Made IPTC Customization a bit easier by removing label checkbox and adding it to its own 'Visible' column.  Doing so makes it easier to drag and drop items in order to rearrange the order of the fields.

Fixed issues when dragging and dropping discontinuous selected fields in the IPTC Customization dialogs. (Win)

Fixed issues with manipulating table rows in the IPTC dialogs while an edit is in progress. (Mac)

Fixed issues with WebViews crashing PM in each of the GPS coordinates dialogs. (Mac)

Contact sheet is now refreshed at the end of IPTC Stationery Pad application.

Fixed issues when importing preferences settings from older versions of Photo Mechanic, specifically in the importing of Color Class color values.

Added new Set Poster Frame and Go to Poster Frame contextual menu commands for videos.  Keyboard shortcuts are ':' for Set Poster Frame and ';' for Go to Poster Frame. (Mac)

Send Photos via Email now has the same JPEG size limit feature as the Save As dialog.

All Upload templates now have the same JPEG size limit feature as the Save As dialog.

Added new Credits dialog.

There will be more to come over the next few days.

You can download the betas here:

Windows (Vista and 7)

Build number is: 12996

If you find an issue, please start a new thread, list your OS and system info, list the build number from the About box, and please list the shortest set of instructions needed to reproduce the issue.
