Tags and Color Class not working

I've recently run into a problem with adding tags and color class to photos. Browsing a folder of images (NEF files from Nikon D3200), I've been tagging and color classing with no problem. But partway through the contact sheet, I can no longer do either. Not in Preview window or in contact sheet mode. Tried re-starting both PM and computer. Can occasionally get a few more tags done, then stops again.

Windows 7 with all updates. Current build of PM 5.

Where are the images located?  On a hard drive?  On a camera card?

I'm having a similar problem in with color codes in the preview window. Changes made while in the preview window are not applying once the window is closed. Browsing images that are on the HD after ingest. Using OSX 10.8.1

What build of PM5 are you running?

What do your IPTC /XMP settings look like?

Kirk,
I was seeing the same issue until I went to check my IPTC/XMP settings to add to this post.  For TIFF based RAW First: was set to "Read embedded ITPC" instead of "Read XMP sidecar file".  This resolved the issue for me.
