lightroom as photo editor
« on: October 31, 2012, 07:06:12 PM »
Using PM 5 build 13444 and LR 4.2.  Windows 7
After tagging my selects in PM, and choosing  display tagged photos only.
CTRL-E to open in LR and all photos open. Not just tagged photos.
Works fine in  photoshop and camera raw. Only opens tagged shots.
But in LR all photos on card open. ??

Dave,

What happens if you select only one photo and then edit?  If LR still shows all images in the folder, I'd suspect it to be a problem with LR.
Another test you could do is to select one photo, right-click on it, choose Reveal in Windows Explorer.  A Windows Explorer window will come forward with the image selected.  Drag and drop it onto LR.  Does it show only the single image or the whole folder's worth of images?

Kirk,
It seems to do this with RAW converter programs, I have tried several different one (Capture One, LR4, and the new PhotoNinja) whether I select one photo to edit or only select tagged every pic in that folder will open in these programs. The only time this does not happen as Dave said is when using RAW. I am on MAC 10.8.2

And so if you do a similar test, leaving PM out of the test entirely, what happens if you drag and drop a single image from the finder onto your other apps?  Do they show a single file or a folder's worth of images?

Kirk I was only trying LR4 and Capture One and now doing a demo PhotoNinja to see if I can use in my work flow. Even selecting a single pic in finder and opening into these programs open the folder with the selected pic on display. I attached a pic for you.

Drag and drop from finder to Capture One Pro 7, same thing imports all photos, but the pic that was chosen does not come up in the edit window just says no image selected but it is highlighted in the strip on bottom.

Tried suggested with same result. Now saving tagged from PM to desk top as DNG,
then open in LR. Works!
Simple extra step.

Kirk, I just tried LR4 again to just edit tagged picks in PM5, in PM I selected my tagged photos >right click> edit selected photos with LR4, LR4 opens showing every pic in folder, when you hit import photos it does only import the tagged photos from PM. So at this point I am not sure what I did or changed to make it work.
