Seeing shares but not contents

I'm running OS X 10.8.2, and Photo Mechanic v5 13444.  I have recently switched platforms, and find that PM on the Mac is terrific.

I have my photos stored on my NAS, which is a Drobo FS, connected via Ethernet.  My shares appear in the PM navigator, but I cannot see the folders within.  There's no response to the twirly or clicking on the name of the share.  I am properly logged in via Drobo Dashboard, and the shares are shown as "mounted."

Do you have any suggestions?

Do you see them in the Finder just fine?

What you are experiencing sounds like an access rights issue to me..…

Yes, I can access the shares in Finder just fine.

Open up a Terminal window (Applications/Utilities/) and type the following:

ls /Volumes

(press enter)

Copy and paste the output here.

Actually I think Kirk meant to ask for "ls -ale@ /Volumes /Volumes/*" (or similar) this will tell us a lot more than just the two folder names. Can you run that statement and show us the output as well?

It looks like to the file system, only a folder called "tdb103170562" is on the root of DroboFS.

Is that where your pictures are?

I never see the tdb103170562 item in Finder.  However, I know of its existence because can I see it in CrashPlan, my backup program.  It does not appear in apps when I need to choose a folder or file.

In CrashPlan, I see Volumes-->DroboFS-->tdb103170562-->1-->DickP-->Pictures

In PM, the Navigator lists Macintosh HD, DickP, GeriP and Public.  The latter 3 are called "shares" in the DroboFS setup software, and there's no indication of the structure above them.  The PM Navigator doesn't list "DroboFS" nor "tdb103170562."

Unfortunately it does not make sense to me.  Is there some way to force each of the "shares" to actually mount as volumes?

After trying various combinations of settings, I changed something that doesn't make sense... I un-checked the "mount" option on the Drobo for each share, and now things work as they should.  Go figure!
