PM 5 only crashing
« on: January 23, 2013, 01:17:13 AM »
I am running Photo Mechanic version 5 (13507) and I run Mac OS X 10.6.8 on my MacPro.

After upgrading to PM 5 I opened folders with .mov files in order to make captions.
That seemed to work fine (also de xmp sidecars appeared).

But now I cannot open folders with .jpgs anymore.
When I open a folder, images only appear in the beginning, see screenshot.
Then I can only stop PM 'forced', see attachment.

Thanks for any help,
Marjolijn

Marjolijn,

This happens even after you quit PM, restart it, and don't browse any folders containing movies?

Are the images whose filenames are drawn in red capable of being loaded by other applications such as the Preview application that comes with your Mac?

Kirk,

After Restart it works fine with jpg's.

The problem is with the mov files.
Once I open several folders (each folder about 30gb) with mov files, after the 4 folder it stops importing and I get the message
unable to render, see attachment.

Maybe the files are too big and PM is not able to work with mov files?

Thanks,
Marjolijn

No.  It's a memory leak in your build of PM 5 and Photo Mechanic is running out of memory.  The next build of PM 5 will solve this issue.  We should be releasing it in a few days.

Kirk,

After the update PM is still crashing.

We were using our jpg archive which was o.k. in the beginning and then at a certain moment it crashes during loading a jpg-folder.
Since that time it crashes on a regularly basis (also with mov files).

Is there anything we can send you to check?

Thanks for any help.

Marjolijn

Well, for starters, please file crash reports when the Crash Reporter comes up the next time you launch PM5.
If you have a set of files when browsed that causes a crash, package them up and send them to us.  We'll use them to try and reproduce the crash.
