Assign key option please plus gmail email
« on: February 06, 2013, 01:49:28 PM »
I would like the option to link gmail to the email as it is the most reliable email that I use to send pics to press.

Does gmail have some sort of scripting capability?  How do you access your gmail?  Via a web browser?  What OS are you running?

Then it would be impossible for PM to control your email service.

Jerry,

I think that their scripting system only works for web apps.  Photo Mechanic is not a web app.  There may be some possibility to host a web browser that would run a web app inside PM (and PM could communicate with it) but it would not be trivial at all to implement.

But we'll keep it in mind.

Why not just use a normal mail app to access your gmail account? Gmail supports both imap as well as pop to retrieve and manage your mail in a mail application instead of via the web interface.

Hope this helps,

I email from PM via Gmail.  Just setup pop3 for Gmail and use my regular email client, Thunderbird.

Running PM 5 latest release on Windows 7.

Hi!

You can follow the steps described here:
http://support.google.com/mail/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1668960&page=ts.cs

IMAP will keep all mails on the server, POP3 will download the mails to your local client.
I would prefer IMAP as all items are kept on the server.

Changed from behind the cam to one who buys images as I started to run. No cam or lens left.

Didn't think about that. I have Gmail setup for POP3 and IMAP except on my phone which is IMAP only.  Gives me the best/worst of both worlds.  I just set the POP3 to not delete mail on the server.  Either way, using an email client such as Thunderbird seems to allow mailing from PM.

PM does not appear to read the Thunderbird address book so I have PM set to review the mail before sending.  This opens Thunderbird and I enter the email addresses there.

Briefly, I select the images I want to send; open email in PM; enter the appropriate info on size, sharpening, etc.; type in the message (this can be done in PM or the email app); hit send; email opens in my email client with attachments; add names; sent from email.

Hope that helps.

Emailing from PM via Gmail:

On Windows install a small app called Affixa http://www.affixa.com/

Basic version is free. It looks like a MAPI complaint mail client and uploads your email to gmail as a draft so you can add address etc...
