Camera user name to define folder
« on: December 05, 2006, 10:51:59 AM »
Oh please bear with me.
I want to have on ingest the folder name as is {user}{month0}{day0} xxx, but where the user would be truncated to the photog's initials. So for photographer John Doe, on ingest a folder would be created called JD1231 xxx.
Is this at all possible?
This would help us create proper folders from the photographers when only one editor is working on one big event.

thx
Pierre

Pierre,

If you are shooting Canon or Nikon, and you give the camera a user name or comment (respectively), you can use the {id} variable (this is essentially {user} on Canon and {comment} on Nikon).  If this is set to the user's initials then you are done.  But if it it is set to, say, "John Doe", then just rename the ingested folder from "John Doe{month0}{day0} xxx" to "JD{month0}{day0} xxx" after the ingest is complete.
