Hi!

I am using PM 5, build 13951 on Windows 7x64.

I love the Gallery2 uploader, and am now trying to use the IPTC keyword feature. But it seems that images I select in PM and right-click "save-as" do actually contain the IPTC keywords (displayed in the "tags" column in Windows File Explorer), but not the images created by the Gallery2 uploader, as I can verify by looking at the local copy stored by the uploader (tags column empty).

Is there a way to make the uploader keep the keywords, so Gallery2 can use them?
My workaround would be to "save as" from PM, and upload manually (yuck).

Best regards,
Christof

Post a screenshot of your Gallery2 uploader settings.  Are you applying an IPTC Stationery Pad during the upload?  Is it applying a blank keywords field?

Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi Kirk,
thanks for the reply. I attached a screenshot of the uploader dialog - I tried with and without IPTC stationary, it doesn't make a difference (the keywords section isn't checked in my IPTC stationary, so it shouldn't be applied AFAIK).

Attached also the save as dialog, where the keywords are retained.

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks, Christof.

We'll try and reproduce the problem on our end.  I don't see anything wrong with your settings.  If you don't mind, I'd like a sample of an image produced by the uploader and one from Save As to compare against.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hi Kirk,

no problem - attached two versions of the same image, one produced with upload the other with save as.

Christof,

Sure enough, the keywords are missing from the IPTC and XMP metadata in the uploaded image.

We'll look into it and get back to you.

Christof,

We've installed our own instance of a Gallery2 server and cannot reproduce the problem of the keywords being stripped on either the Windows or Mac OS X versions of PM5.

I will have to build a version of Photo Mechanic 5 that logs what the image processing code is doing and you'll have to run it to generate a log file for me.  Are you willing to help me solve this problem?

Thanks,

-Kirk
