Transferring rated images from one Mac to another

Apologies if this has been answered. I'd like to know how I can transfer rated/starred images from my MacBook Pro (MBP) to the iMac. I'm set up using file sharing between the Macs and was able to save the xmp files into a folder on the MBP. I suppose I could always copy and paste the xmp files from the MBP into another folder on the iMac and then open PM5 to get the rated/starred images to open and work from there.
Didn't know if there was a faster/easier way to do this. Thanks.

I take it you have the same images on both computers?  Are they all RAW files?

If they're all RAW files, you could copy the XMP sidecar files to the other system.  But if you have other file types or some of your RAW files have IPTC/XMP embedded in them, you'd have to copy the images themselves to the other system.

If you really need to work with the images on both computers, you'd be better off using a file server and work with the files on the server.  Otherwise there are other solutions like rsync-based utilities that can synchronize folders on two or more filesystems.  Here is an example of one that provides a nice user interface for rsync and is free:

you could also mark the images on the MacBook and if you only like to have the rated images on the iMac:
"Filter" for the rated images or select them individually, press Command-Y to copy or move the images to the shared folder on the iMac. This will transfer the images together with the XMP files.
