Hi

I´m using PM 5 successfully with Lightroom 4.4, however, I´m not sure sure if the following behaviour is a bug or if I´m doing something wrong.

I´m using it on a Mac with OSX 10.8.4, with all the IPTC and XMP settings applied as per your instructions (http://wiki.camerabits.com/en/index.php?title=File:PM_iptc.jpg), with the exception that I have "Allow RAW files to be modified" unticked.

Files are located on an external HD.

Contact sheet in use was opened from the Navigator (not ingested)

Colour labels´s descriptions are exactly the same in both programs (I even have the same colours on both).

Metadata is set to write automatically to sidecar files in LR.

IPTC fields update fine, star rating also update correctly, but colour labels´ behaviour is not 100% correct.

The following are the steps to reproduce the error:

1. Apply red (used red as an example) colour label in PM
2. Update metadata in LR and the correct label is applied
3. Alter the label colour to yellow in LR
4. Updates correctly in PM
5. Remove yellow colour label in LR (set to "none")
6. Colour label in PM reverts back to red and not "none", as expected.

Has anyone come across this issue?...

Thank you

The same thing will happen with ratings.  Lightroom deletes the label field when it is none instead of setting it to a "none" label.  When the label is missing entirely, PM falls back on its own color class data.  Same for ratings, LR deletes the rating field when it is zero and PM falls back on its own rating.

It's done this way because PM had color class and rating before Lightroom existed and PM needs to be backwards compatible with older versions of PM.

Ok, I´m glad it´s not me then!  :D

I´ll just have to be careful and consider this when moving between programs.

Any idea if this will be addressed somehow in the future?

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated!

We would have to put in an option to turn off backward compatibility.  We may do this in the future.

That would be perfect!

It´s very useful having the ability to swap labels on either program. When I´m dealing with 1000+ images, I lose track of which ones need to be labelled manually with "none" in PM.

Thanks.
