Activating Trial behind Proxy Server
« on: July 21, 2014, 12:08:50 AM »
Hy,

i'm trying to activate the trialversion at work behind a Bind Proxyserver. This Server needs no authentification.

I made the http-proxy-settings.cfg and stored it in the described folder, without success.

When starting PM there is the Registerdialog and find no way to activate/start PM.

Greetings
Robert

Robert,

Can you take a screen grab of the dialog you cannot get past and post it here?  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

Thanks,

-Kirk

Robert,

I attached a PDF with the dialogues.

Could you also send me your PM.log file (compress it via Zip first) ?

It should be in this location: C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic\PM.log

Thanks,

-Kirk

What was the path you used?  Do you have just two lines in your file (host and port) ?

Thanks,

-Kirk

Hy Kirk,

I attached the pm.log as zipfile.

My http-proxy-settings.cfg looks like this:
192.168.101.6
8080

Just two lines.

first I tried this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Camera Bits\Photo Mechanic 5

then I tried this folder:
C:\Users\rsteichele\AppData\Roaming\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic

The folder like described in the manual (C:\ProgramData\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic\) I cannot find on my Computer.

Robert,

first I tried this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Camera Bits\Photo Mechanic 5

then I tried this folder:
C:\Users\rsteichele\AppData\Roaming\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic

The folder like described in the manual (C:\ProgramData\Camera Bits, Inc\Photo Mechanic\) I cannot find on my Computer.

You need to set your C drive to show hidden files, folders and drives.  Then the ProgramData folder will appear.  Then you'll be able to copy your proxy configuration file there.

Then I expect you'll have no further issues activating your trial version of Photo Mechanic.

Hey cool,

now it works fine :)

Maybe you will add this information to the manual.

Maybe you will add this information to the manual.

It has been added to the online manual.  The built-in manual will be updated with the next build of PM5.

Thank you for your persistence! ;)
