Selection already made in exported contact sheet site
« on: October 27, 2014, 03:16:07 AM »
One of my clients told me on the phone that when he views my exported contact sheets online some of the pictures are already selected, there checkbox is already checked. This obviously causes some confusion when he orders images. I just output a new contact sheet for my most recent shoot, uploaded it to my server and viewed it....even when I view this one, a single image is already checked when not a sole has viewed it before.

How can I stop this happening?

That should say 'not a soul has viewed it before' not 'sole'.....there are no fish involved in this problem at all.

Hi Nick, what (template) have you used to export your contact sheet online?

Hi, it's the PM Classic template.

I edit my shoot using colour classes then select my chosen images and export them to a desktop folder and ftp them to my server.

I can't work out how some are getting selected before my client goes to view them. Could it be something to do with his browser or cache or something like that, rather than my output? I thought it was just this one client until I did a test this morning and some were selected for me also.

Hi Nick,

Just did some testing myself and the template does indeed remember the selection you last made to the gallery (which in a way is a good thing). I'm not sure how the selection is maintained, but hopefully Kirk or the others can so can find a solution.

Note that if you save your gallery in a different folder, the selections are gone so you could use this as a work-around.

Remembering selections is OK but my client seems to have selections already made the first time he views the contact sheet.

Unless it's remembering selections from a different, previous contact sheet.

It's an odd problem.

Nick,

Make sure your "Project ID" field changes on each export or simply leave it blank.  It is this value that is used to generate the persistent data on the user's computer.  If the Project ID isn't unique then the settings will be reused.

-Kirk

Ahhh Kirk, I think you have identified the problem. When I get back from a shoot, I open folder and name it according to the client and date, then inside that folder I open a folder called RAW in which all the raw files go. This means that for every job my Project ID is 'RAW'.

I will change my workflow.

Thanks....Nick
