Generate xmp sidecars?
« on: November 16, 2014, 01:55:56 PM »
I now generate .xmp sidecar files for raw images when I ingest them.

Can Photo Mechanic generate .xmp sidecars for raw images that do not already have them? I have many folders of images ingested with creating .xmp files.

What's the easiest way to do this?

Yes.  If you configure PM to generate XMP sidecar files, then any change (rate/tag/color class/iptc edits/crops) will cause one to be generated.

I see I had a typo in my query. It should have said, "... many folders of images ingested without creating .xmp files."

Yes, your suggestion worked for me. All I have to do is tag all the photos in a folder and the .xmp sidecars are generated (and then untag them again to leave the photos in the state in which I found them).

I didn't expect it would this easy! Thanks.
