Compressing/Sizing Down
« on: February 27, 2015, 03:05:18 PM »
I have to transmit images under 1.5mb each. I want to use PhotoMechanic to compress/resize when uploading, but I can't get the file size limit to work. I saw the Wiki support page for JPG compression saying to turn the quality to zero and then select the file size limit. But this doesn't appear to work- when I did a test upload to my Smugmug site, the images actually transmit a higher file size than the original. Is there something I am missing? Any suggestions?

Please take a screen shot of your settings and post them here.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your JPEG format screenshot.

I have the similar problem.

resizing files with <send photos via email ...> works strange:

if I set <limit file size to> 1GB or more it works as desired. Set to 0.9GB (or less) the resized file would become about 150Kb.

<save photo as ...> (same settings) works fine.

Hi, Oryk
I am not sure if this is the cause of the problem...but I generally leave Subsample Chroma box unmarked.
