Ingest support for MTP or PTP devices.
« on: June 01, 2015, 10:57:25 AM »
Hello,

I'm using Windows 7 x64 and Photo Mechanic 5 build 15800.

When I connect my Fuji X-T1 or X100t photo camera I do not get the usual drive letter like a card reader, but under group "portable devices" I see the name of the device and PM cannot see it in ingest. This is because the device connect using MPT or PTP protocols, not mass storage.

Please consider overcoming this limitation in future version of PM.

Thanks!

Hello sabink,

What you are experiencing is the same case with other cameras out there. This is meant to force users into using the proprietary software that came with the camera. The surefire way for you to get around this limitation would be to use a card reader during your ingest.

The D3s is the same.  Using a card reader is the solution.

Alternatively you could use system software (Image Capture on the Mac) to download and then open the relevant folder in PM to apply usual PM processes.
