How to save oder crop+save a jpg without quality loss

Heyho,
would it technically be possible to integrate an option to "maintain jpg quality" when saving an (original) jpg again. No matter whether eventual croppings shall be aplied or not.
Or in other words / working around the current possibilities: When I choose an quality option that generates bigger file sizes (without cropping) than the original file has - will the quality deterioate nevertheless?
Thanks for helping in that quite general pixel graphic question!

I'd recommend taking a look at Dennis's answer here:

So, while technically the answer is yes, its unlikely that you'd notice the difference in the new JPEG that you save out. Is it possible to start with a lossless image format like a TIFF instead of working from a JPEG?

alright, thanks, this is what I thought. No, turning the smartphones pictures into tiff before would be too much effort etc.
Thanks nevertheless!
