Cannot seem to change font type in watermark
« on: August 20, 2009, 04:16:27 AM »
Hi Kirk

I note that issue has been listed in earlier threads, but nothing solved me issue.

I am attempting to alter the font type in the copyright notice to TEKTON PRO EXT, however, the font never alters no aster what font I select.

Latest version of PM.  Thanks....Iain

What OS are you running PM on?

Can you post a screenshot of the Watermarking dialog showing your settings?

Iain,

OS is MAC 10.5.8.  PM is latest version

I am new to a MAC & cannot figure out the screen grab.

Hold down the following keys:

Command+Ctrl+Shift

Then type the '4' key.  Your cursor should now change to a 'plus' with a gray transparent circle at its center.  Release all of the keys.  Now click and drag over the area you want to make a screen grab.  The image will now be in the clipboard.  You can then paste the image into any image editor.  Save it as a JPEG and then post it here.  You can upload your image by using the 'Additional Options...' link when you compose your message.

HTH,

Kirk,

This seems like the same problem I mentioned before (http://forums.camerabits.com/index.php?topic=3954.0) and for which we concluded that the error was in the font drawing library/routines you are currently using. Rewriting those would be a non trivial task and I opted for using a different font that did render properly in the meantime.

Yes, that was my thought as well.

Hi Kirk

Ah so that's how you screen capture with a MAC - what a messy way in comparison to a PC (ahhhh).

OK I've attached the file.

As I said earlier, it always defaults to the same font.  I can later placement, opacity - but not the font type.  Thanks....Iain

That's odd.  I find it to be far more useful.  You can also just do Command-Shift-3 to grab the entire screen and save to a image file on your desktop, but I like being able to crop just the portion I need.  Saves lots of time...

Try selecting the 'Sample Text' first, then choose the font.

Just a matter of getting used to the new MAC way of dealing with things I guess - thanks for the shortcuts!      ;D

OK after selecting the sample text (highlighting it), I have noticed that the actual "sample text" changes to the desired font style (the text in the sample box).

However, this style is not replicated in the image - it defaults back to the original style.   Ideas?      Iain

It sounds like you have the same issue that Hayo had that I couldn't fix.

Hi Kirk

Well at least I know it's not something I'm doing incorerctly.

Maybe this will be repaired for the next version.

On another note, it would be great if PM was configured to allow borders to be placed around images when using the "save as" command.  Nothing complex - just a solid black border that could be increased in width.

Thanks for your help and prompt treplies Kirk.  Support for PM is nothing short of outstanding....Iain      ;D

As Hayo hinted in his posting, it looks like switching to a different text rendering API on Mac OS X would have to be done in order to solve this issue.  That task is more than we can do at the moment.

You can kind of do this already with the Watermarking with a transparent logo image with a border drawn in it.
