Local IPTC on live ingest ?

I'm being rushed into my first "live ingest" operation--
We set up the MacBook and the canon cameras--it seems to be working well enough--

Using
Photo Mechanic Version 5.0, build 15800 (e6ecc1c)

HOWEVER--

When I ingest disks, I always use the local IPTC set to fill in the photographers name and other data from the camera SN's.

Then I can setup global IPTC to overlay the same captions on multiple images.

It appears that the "live ingest" only uses the global IPTC stationery.
So, I am being extremely limited in my ability edit captions and send large groups of similar photos quickly.

So, is there a way to have the "live ingest" use the local IPTC?
Or any other fix that keeps the process moving fast with minimal moving parts ?

No.  Live Ingest does not offer its own local IPTC Stationery Pad.

I'd like to be able to create and change a caption that can be used to paste in over a group of selected images without disrupting the ingest IPTC setup (global) since I will be having a constant flow coming in via "live ingest".

Hi overunder,

Have you tried saving separate IPTC Pads for these uses? Or possibly creating snapshots for commonly used Stationery Pad configurations. You could save the information in what you have set as your Global IPTC and then load it whenever needed.

The IPTC Stationery Pad applied by Live Ingest is a snapshot of what was available at the time the Live Ingest started.  It won't change over time, even if you make changes to the global IPTC Stationery Pad in another feature of Photo Mechanic.  If it does change then we would consider that a major bug and would fix it in the next update to Photo Mechanic.

OK, went through my first session/assignment editing using the "live ingest"

All in all, it worked out very well!
Three remote cameras and two live shooters.

I see what Kirk was talking about with whatever Global IPTC one uses when you start live ingest STAYS the ingest IPTC stationery.

That made it possible for me to change the global after live ingest had begun.
I could then "gang caption" multiple images selected on the contact sheet using a different global IPTC and send them on their way.

The only issue I had with that was that I had to change or correct the IPTC after I had started the "live" session.
I had to stop the live ingest to change the global that would be applied to those new live ingested photos.
My problem was that the Pmech ingest window froze and wouldn't let me shut down live ingest.
I had to "force quit" and start over.
Not too big a deal- but a moment of anxiety.
Everything worked flawlessly after that !
