Can I permanently disable the spellchecker on PM version 5?

Is it possible to permanently disable the spellchecker in Photo Mechanic version 5? I've been into Edit then Spelling and have unticked (is that a word?) Check Spelling While Typing, but if I do anything else on the laptop (a Mac) during the PM session (even if it's just browsing the internet), it seems to reactivate by itself.

Be sure to uncheck the "Check spelling of Caption field as you type" checkbox in PM's IPTC/XMP Preferences.
