Set colour Tab

Hi
Just wanted to find out how to just have the colour tab set and not the star feature when making a selection/ culling. Basically I want to press the 1 keyand have the colur code come up pink

Under preferences, accessibility, set the single key shortcut to "0-8 sets color class".
