I went ahead and bought PM6.
I deactivated my PM5, did NOT uninstall.
When I launched PM6 I now get the appropriate TRY button.

It's somehow linked to having a previous activated install that is not eligible for an upgrade.

Yes, that dialog was telling you that your existing license was too old for a free upgrade to PM6.  Unfortunately it did not also offer an opportunity to Try PM6.  The next build of PM6 will do that.

I was offering an easier solution for everyone besides contacting support for a trial license.

Just deactivate your current version. No need to even uninstall it.

If, for some reason, PM6 doesn't work out for you just reactive the version you still have installed.
