PM6 doesn't fill the CITY field
« on: March 31, 2019, 10:23:05 AM »
with reverse geocoding. It shows only in SUBLOCATION field. And it overwrites my already filled in "Deutschland" with "Germany" though I have checked "No overwriting...". I want my Metadata template as near to the classic IPTC template as possible. Otherwise it's to much scrolling. Together with the missing Quick SEARCH a sad experience.

What was the GPS coordinate that you looked up?

Without meaning to hijack this thread (but rather in order to keep things together) I would like to add my own GPS reverse geocode issue here. Perhaps its related. As I have tried with a number of images I am getting very varied results. I can only imagine this is due to the limitation of data available for different regions, but there are certain things that I think need to be fixed.

1. Some images from Hong Kong have place names in Cantonese or Mandarin text, which I have no use for. Ideally they should all be in Roman characters - not just some fields

2. All the Hong Kong images are not mentioning Hong Kong at all. There is the name of the place (road etc) then the country: PRC and then country again: China. Not much use to be honest. (and we can debate of course whether Hong Kong is in fact PRC China, although I dont want to wake the Chinese trolls up of course!)

So perhaps its time to use another database for the GPS geo-reverse tagging. If someone likes to use Germany, and the software adds Germany that should be made an option (as in a click box that says: "Dont add info if already filled"

The coordinate was in one example: latitude: N51°54.684' longitude: E14°07.237'. But It happened to others too. I want PM to write the name of the city in the CITY field, as it does correctly with the STATE and COUNTRY fields. I also don't like the overwriting of any field if there is information already, though I checked the "No overwriting..." in the GPS pad. The info it writes in the SUBLOCATION fields seems to be correct however.
