newbie Scan To Catalog ?
« on: May 28, 2019, 05:26:54 PM »
I had 4229 photos that I scanned into the Default Catalog.  All the photos lived on a external HD.  All seemed OK green circles etc.  Days later trying to get used to PM+ I could not figure out how to get the circles green.  I could do searches but it was just searching the catalog. I wanted to add a keyword to a found images & of course PM could not do that because it was only "seeing" the catalog not the actual images (I assume).
Then I'd realized that I had moved all the folders containing the 4299 images into a parent folder called "sent".  I did this outside of PM+ oops.
I Thought I could just do another Scan To Catalog pointing to the sent folder & of course now I have 8458 images in my catalog (4229 x 2).
I am tried unsuccessfully to remove the incorrect 4229 images all at once & PM locked up.
I restarted it and am able to "remove form catalog" one folder at a time.
What should I have done when the location of the folders changed outside of PM+?
Thank You
Mary

Hi,
I am not that sure, but I think you could have created another catalog using Menu, Catalog, Catalog Management pointing to the new location, then Scan to Catalog (the new one) and after that deleted the old catalog.

Mary,

Currently we don't have a solution for that situation.  We will provide a feature that will allow you to locate missing folders.

At this time, you'd have to start a new catalog and delete the old one.

Hmmm
That would be useful to be able to search for missing or moved folders.

If the catalog can not seem to find the "live" photos ie the circles are not green.
Should I just make a new catalog via scan to catalog?
Do you have any suggestions ?
I can search the catalog OK pretty much all the time but sometimes PM looses track of the the "live" photos (The circles are clear).
The catalog lives on my native HD & photos are on external HD.
Thank You

That is my suggestion for the problem you originally described, yes.

Under what circumstances do the circles become no longer filled with green?  What has changed since they last showed as filled?
