subfolder view
« on: April 12, 2007, 07:18:00 AM »
Kirk,

2 part feature request...

1) is it possible to enable PM to view the contents of all subfolders?

2) and then have the ability to search the parent folder and all subfolders?

Christian,

It depends on what you mean by all folders.  If you want to search your entire hard drive, then the answer is likely, no.

You can open a folder and its subfolders into a single contact sheet, but there are limits to this feature.

You can search (Find or Find/Replace) in any open contact sheet.

Kirk,

again, thanks for the fast response. I am humbled and in awe! I didn't know this was possible. This changes everything in our workflow... Thanks for the continued work on PM and making it the best browser on the planet!

Can you tell us what those limits are?

There is no hard limit, but basically if you run out of memory, then problems will occur.  Common sense applies here: don't expect to open the root folder of huge drive full of tens of thousands of photos all into a single contact sheet.  While we could engineer PM to handle such things, it would severely impact the performance everywhere else and nobody wants that...
