Cross platform preferences
« on: October 21, 2020, 12:49:01 PM »
Hi,
Are PM preferences cross platform compatible from PC to Mac?
I am looking to move FTP settings and caption layouts from a PC to a Mac, hopefully without re-entering them all.
Many thanks,
Martin

For the most part, yes.  Use the Export... button in the Preferences dialog to choose what to export from the PC and then make the file it produces available on your Mac and then use the Import... button in the Preferences dialog to choose what to import.

Hi Kirk,
That’s very good to know.
Are there any preferences that won’t copy across?
And do they need to be the same PM version?

Anything that has a path in it (macOS and Windows paths are not the same) won't transfer well.
Transferring from one version to another should work OK for the most part.
