Constantly "preloading metadata"

Hoping someone has an idea.

PM Plus v6.0 build 6097 on Windows 10. Single catalog of about 20K images.

On PM, run query keyword = "person x"
Result set about 2000. Query tab says "Search 1"

"preloading metadata" Wait 6 minutes.  :'(

Scroll down (once!)

Query tab says "Search 2"

"preloading metadata" Wait 6 minutes

And so on.  Every scroll or even switching away from the PM window and back increases the Search count (same tab)  and causes a 5-6 minute wait while "preloading metadata" completes. Please tell me I missed a simple setting...

Appreciate any help.

What sort type are you using?  Is your catalog still being built?

Is it possible for you to make a screen recording and share it with me?

I have not heard of this issue before.

Thank you for replying.  Not sure why I didn't see this before.  Bob Russell gave some good ideas wrt Preferences and all appears to be working at this time.

I have exactly the same issue happening. What were the preferences settings you employed to sort it out?

Go to the Contact Sheet preference page and make sure the box on the right side is unchecked to Rescan on resume.  If you need to rescan a particular contact sheet to show new or updated images from another app, then use the Rescan option from the View or the matching keyboard shortcut. ( Command-/ for Macs and just the / for Windows ).
