4.5, Mac OS X 10.4.9, immediate crash tagging any file
« on: April 19, 2007, 05:35:02 PM »
I installed 4.5 the other day, but didn't do my first import until tonight.

Everything seemed to go OK, but the first time I tried to apply any new keywords with the stationary pad, the app crashed immediately. I sent in one crash report and then tried 2 more times with the same result.

So I went back to 4.4.

When I then imported the files into Lightroom, Lightroom reported a few of the files damaged, so I think perhaps the import went badly. I might try again in 4.4 and see if it provides any insight.

It would be useful to know what kind of files you ingested.  If you imported the files into Lightroom from the card and it also had problems with them, then it may be that the card is going bad.

Oh. Sorry. They were D200 NEF files.

Unfortunately, I wiped the card after the incident occured. A second import of the card using 4.4.3.3, and Lightroom read the card OK too. The card is new so I don't think it's going bad.

Anyway. I'll do some more testing and if I can find a file that consistently fails with 4.5 I'll let you know again.

I just shot four more test files and tried to ingest them and PM 4.5 crashed.

If I can attach them somewhere I can send one of them to you.

I believe we identified this issue and it will be fixed in 4.5.1.  It has to do with Byline (Photographer) being less than 4 chars.

I'll contact you privately for a beta to try.
