How to add a category to the Metadata template?

Good morning all,

I am customizing the Metadata (IPTC) Template in PM6.
There's no need for me to see all the IPTC fields as I'm not a professional photographer but I only use it as a teaching aid.
Basically, I only need the following:

Image Content: Description/Caption, Headline, Keywords, Persons shown
Image rights: Creator/Photographer, Copyright, Contact email
Event and Location: Date, Event, Location/Address, City, State/Province, Country

I managed to set this all up and I'm happy with the lean appearance. However, I would like to add a category "Continent" to the Event and Location chapter; How do I do that?
Obviously, it needs to be able to contain a drop-box menu so that I can select the continent to avoid typos.

I would also like to add this to the Metadata (IPTC) Info for each individual picture.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?
I am familiar with customizing the Metadata frames, no problem there.

Our products don't offer the capability of creating custom fields.

Hello,

LRAT, you can use the unused fields.
For example, Category, Supp Cat 1,2 and 3.

Only problem, these fields are not "catalogued", they will only appear in "Metadata (IPTC) info", but this can, perhaps, be enough for you...

Just rename the field to "Continent".

I use it to manage the versions of my photos...

Your suggestion makes perfect sense!
Yes, I don't care about the IPTC protocol as such, As long as I can modify one of these fields then I'm happy.

By the way, it would be nice to be able to choose the fields you want to catalog...
