1x zoom makes the picture smaller than the preview
« on: July 13, 2025, 12:29:06 PM »
Hi!

I've been using Photo Mechanic for a while now, and having updated recently to version 6 this started happening.

When I press Z (shortcut to zoom), the pictures become smaller. Is this because my camera is APS-C? I did a shoot recently with my camera and a rented full frame one, and the full frame pictures behaved normally - 1x zoom would zoom in, not out.

Is there an option I have to change or is this normal behaviour?

Thanks!

What brand is the camera that produced the images? What is the file type? What resolution does it say the image is at the top of the preview window?

I'm sorry for the delay, I forgot to check the forum!

Sony a6700, so Sony's ARW raw format usually.

But your second question about the resolution made me realise it makes sense, cause PM opens the small embedded jpeg preview, and that's obviously smaller than my screen. Thanks!
