Location search
« on: May 12, 2021, 01:46:30 AM »
I know that I have location data in my images but I've not been able to find a way to see the GPS data within PM6+ and I have to use a separate exif reader. How can I see the actual GPS coordinate data in PM6+?

If I highlight the globe icons in the location fields then the appropriate fields are filled but only after I save and move on so I can't see them to check they are what I need without going back again. Is there a way round that?

A search using:
location within 100m of 52.530914, -0.066550
works but the format
location within 100m of N 052° 31' 51.30", W 000° 02' 59.64
doesn't find anything.

When I see the location in other apps it's usually in the degree-minute-second (DMS) format but it's mostly needed with only degrees shown as a decimal. Converting with a separate exif reader is a slow nuisance. If PM6+ can show the GPS location is there a choice do so in either format?

Thanks!

David,

I know that I have location data in my images but I've not been able to find a way to see the GPS data within PM6+ and I have to use a separate exif reader. How can I see the actual GPS coordinate data in PM6+?

Use the GPS-related variables in your "Info Text".  You'll then see your coordinate data in the Info Tooltips in the Contact Sheet view, or in the Info pane in the Preview.

A search using:
location within 100m of 52.530914, -0.066550
works but the format
location within 100m of N 052° 31' 51.30", W 000° 02' 59.64
doesn't find anything.

Photo Mechanic Plus does not parse the second coordinate format.  Only the decimal format is acceptable at this time.

When I see the location in other apps it's usually in the degree-minute-second (DMS) format but it's mostly needed with only degrees shown as a decimal. Converting with a separate exif reader is a slow nuisance. If PM6+ can show the GPS location is there a choice do so in either format?

No.

David,

You may find this new feature (in build 5820) useful:
