Moving photos to sub-directory after transmitting
« on: November 08, 2021, 02:22:11 AM »
Currently the Upload/FTP dialogue allows saving a copy of the transmitted photos to a sub-directory/different directory. It would be great if a similar function moving the successfully transmitted photos to a sub-directory/directory would exist.

The uploader system is not able to modify/move original images.

Is "The uploader system is not able to modify/move original image" a consequence of how the uploader is implemented or is there a more fundamental reason why you refrain from modifying "original" images (I put "original" in quotes as these have, at least in my case been ingested and the captions changed by PhotoMechanics)?

The Uploader system copies all of your images you have selected to upload to a cached location.  It then uploads the images from there.  We do this because the user may move, rename, or delete the selected images while they're uploading.  Or they could close the contact sheet containing the selected images.  The Uploader system only has access to the cached copies of the images.  When they're done uploading, the cached copies are deleted.

This is by design and eliminates errors that could be occur from any of the above user interactions with the files while they're uploading.
