Tip of the Day always shows on startup

I am running Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 6097 (85d1687) on Mac OS 12.1 (Monterey), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019). Every time I start Photo Mechanic, I get the Tip of the Day. I check "Don't show any more tips on startup" but this doesn't seem to have an effect. Each time I quit and startup again, I get another tip (and the check box is no longer checked). I just upgraded to this version today. This problem also happened on the previous version.

I'd like to see your Photo Mechanic log.  In Photo Mechanic go to the Help menu and choose "Reveal Support Data..." and moments later a Finder window will come forward with the zipped log file selected.  Use the 'Attachments and other options' link when you're composing your reply to this message and there you'll be able to upload your zipped PM log file.

I noticed some errors related to an external drive I use for Time Machine backups in the logs. I unmounted this drive but the problem still persists. I also checked the permissions on my Disk Cache. I think they look good:

Thanks for the log.

Your preferences database is not working properly.  I expect that none of the preferences that you change will stick.

First quit Photo Mechanic if it is running.  Using the Finder:

Go->Go to Folder...

Enter:

~/Library/Preferences/com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic

Find the file: com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefsdb and delete it.
Find the file: com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefsdb.bak and rename it to remove the .bak

Start Photo Mechanic and set the "Don't show any more tips on startup" checkbox and click the Close button.  Restart Photo Mechanic.  The problem should now be fixed.  If it persists, please let me know and we'll work from there.

com.camerabits.PhotoMechanic.prefsdb was last modified in 2020.

Deleting these files cleared my Tip of the Day issue. I saved screen shots of all my preferences before I deleted so I could more easily customize things.
