How to access catalog previews when catalog offline
« on: October 19, 2021, 12:25:03 AM »
Working offline, I would still like to access the catalog previews as image files (e.g. to send to clients, etc). To my surprise, I have found no way to do this. Is this currently possible?

In general, no.  But you can send previews via email with the latest build.

Shucks. I often need a low-resolution version of an image, whether to upload, attach to email, manipulate, etc. It would be great to have access to the underlying catalog previews, at least with a "Tools > Extract Catalog Previews..." or, fancier, as an option in "File > Save Photos As >
  • Use previews for offline photos".

Planned.  Though I am not sure how useful a Save as would be.  But an extraction option would be useful for sure.

I was just searching the forums and thought I'd second this request.

I use Smart Previews in LR - basically a lightweight version of a full-sized file that is typically stored on an external drive. When traveling with the laptop I can edit/sort/keyword these Smart Previews, and then I connect back to the big external drive at the office all the changes are made to the full sized files. I find this very handy.
