Create variable name days in spanish ingest
« on: July 14, 2022, 11:15:07 AM »
Hello:

I would like PM+ to create the folders with the name of the day in Spanish when doing the ingestion. Can I create a variable with UTF-8 text file and use it when doing the ingest?

I created "mydow" but I can't get it to appear in the variable list, I added it in code replacement, but it doesn't work. Obviously I'm doing it wrong or I haven't understood the process.

I would like help. Thank you very much

Hola mago,

As you've found out, you cannot create your own variables, but what you want to do can be done with code replacements, and then combining the {dow} variable with the code replacement.  Your code replacement file needs to be a .txt or .tsv file with tabs separating the columns. Here is an example of how one might look:

Code: [Select]
Monday lunes
Tuesday martes
Wednesday miércoles
Thursday jueves
Friday viernes
Saturday sábado
Sunday domingo

Once you create that file, you then load it into Photo Mechanic via Edit > Settings > Set Code Replacements

Then in your metadata field, you would include the variable inside a code replacement like this:

={dow}=

Used on photos taken today (Thursday), ={dow}= will return jueves.

I did a video here running through the steps:

Thanks Mick, I already did that, what I would like is that in the ingest I could create the folder with the {dow} already directly in Spanish. It seems to me that it cannot be done, because I do not want to change the metadata in the photos, I simply want to be able to have/or create the variables in Spanish in values such as day of the week, month, .... to use them in the ingest, I will exit almost a month out and when I download the cards I would like to do it with PM+ and not have to do it with C1 or LR and then import into the PM+ catalog

mago,

It is possible. The ={dow}= string can be used in the Folder field of the ingest dialog as well.  Photo Mechanic will create the folder "jueves" automatically.

Thank you so much!! I was making a mistake, the text file I created is called "mydow" and in the ingest it put ={mydow}= but now I have only put ={dow}= and they have come out in Spanish. Thank you very much again.  ;) ;) :) :)
