Ignore Time Machine Drive
« on: August 19, 2022, 04:09:18 PM »
Can anyone tell me how to put a PMIgestIgnore folder on an existing Mac Time Machine drive? I doesn't seem possible to copy or create anything on that drive manually, and I would prefer not to lose my existing backups. The drive is a WD Passport connected via a USB port to my MacBook Pro. (Mac Monterey 12.5.1)

Open Terminal and navigate to the root of the drive, then enter the following:

sudo touch .PMIngestIgnore

Press enter. Enter your password if asked.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

After I figured out how to get to that drive in terminal, it worked.

Thanks!
