Files become invisable after copying

Here is a fun one for you:

We have noticed a persistent issue with both 4.5.1 and 4.5 on versions of the Mac OS from 10.3.9 through 10.4.9. When a group of images is copied from one location to the desktop using Photo Mechanic, one file will become invisible if we are running 10.4.X. The problem occurs when copying to any folder if we are running 10.3.9. If we point Photo Mechanic at the folder, we can see all of the files. In 10.4.X we can see the missing file by viewing the desktop folder in the finder. In 10.3.9 there is no way to make the file appear.

Most interestingly, this bug occurs only when there is a single folder open. If we have several folders open in tabs, the problem disappears.

This is a bug in the Finder.  If you log out and log back in, your files will appear.  This is a well known issue in the Finder.  We do not set the "invisibility" attribute when we copy files.  If we did so, then it wouldn't matter if you did log out and in again, the file wouldn't reappear.

Most interestingly, this bug occurs only when there is a single folder open. If we have several folders open in tabs, the problem disappears.

The effect of the bug in the Finder is that it occurs randomly with all applications that write files to the Desktop folder.  I'm sure that the bug can be reproduced when only a single folder is open.  The code that copies files in Photo Mechanic was not changed in any way between version 4.4.3.3 and 4.5.x.
