PM6 very slow performance on NAS

I have searched for a solution for using PM6 with a Synology Nas on this forum. I have seen discussions from 2015, 2017, and 2020.

Is there no will to implement NAS support?

My Synology DS1621+ is a fast system, I can edit 6K video without proxy, and the 10G connection is stable.
The issue with PM6 is browsing a folder and loading images. it seems that the speed goes from 100% to 5%, with a long waiting time for every click.

Is MP6 going to address the issue or should we just move on?

NASes are very good at streaming a large amount of data in a linear fashion.  They're horrible at serving up lots of small files with small reads in a non-linear order.

We're not likely to improve on what NASes offer in that regard from our end of the situation.

I have the exact same problem (Photo Mechanic Version 6.0, build 6784 (409cf99)) working with a Retina 27" and Ventura 13.4.1 I don't work with videos but with many photographs (about 11,000,000) and if I don't put them on a NAS I don't know where to put them. I don't understand Kirk's answer. So the problem will not be solved? by Alessandro
