Find & Replace multiple words at one time.
« on: August 11, 2023, 11:57:03 AM »
I'm trying to sort data entered into the wrong field.  Keywords vs. Persons shown.  How can I search multiple keywords in Persons Shown and remove them?

Example
PerShown : Johnson, Cornelius Johnson, 6, Football Players | Johnson
I want to remove everything but "Cornelius Johnson"

Keywords: Johnson, Cornelius Johnson, 6, Football Players | Johnson
I want to remove everything but "Football Players"

Hello,

One way this can be done would be to use the Find utility in the Edit menu and Find the person you want to keep, Cornelius Johnson. In the Find dialog, enter Cornelius Johnson in the top field. Now check the Metadata box below this field. Next check the Persons shown box in the metadata field list. Check the box in the Criteria section to Treat repeating fields as a single string. Click the Find button to select these files in the open contact sheet.  Now open the IPTC Metadata Template from the Image menu. Click the Clear button at the bottom to reset the template. Enter Cornelius Johnson in the Persons shown field. The Apply box should automatically get checked and the Append + box needs to be unchecked. Click the Apply Template to Selected button at the bottom.

If the same selected images also need the Keywords field updated with just Football Players, then you could add Football Players to the Keywords field in the Metadata Template in the above step.

If the set of images is different for the Keywords field update, then just repeat the steps above Finding Football Players in the Keywords field and then Applying the Metadata Template with Football Players in the Keywords field.

Best regards,

--Bob
