Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce an update to Photo Mechanic 6 for macOS and Windows.  This new build of Photo Mechanic 6 addresses issues present in the 6856 build.

macOS:

Windows:

On macOS, Photo Mechanic requires Mac OS X 10.10 or higher  If you are using a Mac with macOS 10.9.5 or older, you will need to upgrade to macOS 10.10 or higher to use Photo Mechanic.

NOTE: The system requirements will be changing soon to require macOS 10.15 (Catalina). This is because Apple has changed the notarization toolset and requires macOS 10.15. After October 31, 2023 we can no longer build new releases of Photo Mechanic that support older versions of macOS.

On Windows, Photo Mechanic 6 requires a 64-bit edition of Windows 8 or higher.  If you are using Windows 7, or lower, you will need to upgrade to Windows 8 or higher in order to use Photo Mechanic 6.

Version 6.0 Build 6880 (10/04/2023)

Both:
• Fixed: Ingest From Folder incorrectly applying sequence number, resulting in incorrect sort order.
• Fixed: Error loading metadata message when making metadata edits for RAW files with zero byte XMP sidecar files.
• Added: SmugMug uploader now supports keywords from XMP sidecar files.

macOS:
• Fixed: Application crash when closing the Contact Sheet window after Ingest.
• Fixed: Time variable returns extra characters on Sonoma.
• Added: Check OS on software update to prevent users from updating to an incompatible version of Photo Mechanic.
• NOTE: The system requirements will be changing soon to require macOS 10.15 (Catalina). This is because Apple has changed the notarization toolset and requires macOS 10.15. After October 31, 2023 we can no longer build new releases of Photo Mechanic that support older versions of macOS.

Windows:
• No Windows-specific fixes or enhancements.  The Both section above applies to the Windows version.
