XMP for more than just photos

We would love to have the ability to add XMP data to any file using Photo Mechanic. Any chance you could look into this? In today's workflow our photographers have to deal with more than just pictures. Their also working with audio, video and office products. If we could simply embed XMP meta data into every file it would certainly help in tracking files within our database (which can read any XMP meta-data embedded in any file).

Its a world bent on finding the file more than just having it.

I can see adding XMP sidecar file editing for all file types, but it is just not possible to embed XMP data into all file types without completely rendering the file useless in the responsible editing application.  For instance if you just inserted XMP data into a WAV file, when played back you would actually 'hear' your XMP data as a scratchy bit of static!

XMP sidecar files could be supported.

Sidecar would be fine. Our Digital Asset Manager is set up to do this, but we'd like the field editor to be able to prepare files for our server and workflow. You have a great program that already answers the mail in our still photo editing area. We'd just like to use it with video and audio files as well.

If you want more information on who we are and what DAM we use send me an e-mail. I'm sure the DAM manufacturer would be more than willing to talk with you. They're really the only ones who are currently able to embed XMP in any file.
